‘Who’s who’ line-up at London sale

A “who’s who” of fine wines will feature at Sotheby’s London sale on 15 July from Burgundy to Bordeaux, Tuscany and the Rhône.

The majority of the sale comes from the cellar of a European collector who spent 20 years putting together an array of some of the finest wines in the world.

Bordeaux is well represented across the classed growths from both banks and from the 1980s to 2000s.

Léoville Las Cases 1985, 1995 Pétrus and Cheval Blanc and 1990 Ausone are particular highlights, while the Burgundian collection features 1990 Musigny from J-F Mugnier, 1993 Chambertin from Denis Mortet, 1990 Chevalier Montrachet from Domaine Leflaive and 1990Echézeaux from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti.

Guigal’s three “La Las” (La Turque, La Landonne and La Mouline) from multiple vintages will also star and the collection closes with a small offering of Opus One from the 1988, 1989 and 1989 vintages.

The second collection begins with Burgundy from Bernard Dugat-Py, Jacques Prieur, Jean-Marc Boillot and Antoine Jobard, as well as 2012 Domaine du Pegau in formats from magnum to Balthazar.

Italian and Spanish wines such as 1996 Ornellaia and 1997 Pingus will make an appearance, alongside a collection of ex-cellar Leroy which includes a mixed case of 1998 Romanée St Vivant and Richebourg.

Finally, further lots to look out for include: Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Case Basse from Soldera, Aldo and Giacomo Conterno, 1990 Palmer, 1996 Ducru Beaucailou, 2000 Pontet-Canet, a vertical of Yquem spanning 1933-1967, JJ Prüm, 1955 Vieux Château Certan, de Vogüé and Vouvray from Domaine Huet.
