Chilean sisters launch sparkling wine

Chilean sisters Begoña and Ana Maria Aresti have launched a sparkling wine onto the market in a response to the rising global demand for fizz.

Made from 60% Chardonnay and 40% Pinot Noir, the 12% abv Only Aresti Brut is described by its makers as “fresh, versatile, flexible and elegant”.

The Chardonnay and Pinot that go into the fizz hail from the cool climate region of Bío Bío in southern Chile, where slow ripening conserves the acidity in the grapes.

The grapes are hand harvested, with the secondary fermentation taking place in tanks, where the wine remains on its lees for up to 60 days.

“As part of our brand strategy, we wanted to develop a sparkling wine in order to meet global demand and introduce new and young consumers to our brand,” Begoña Aresti told db.

“It is a sparkling wine that can be enjoyed at any time of the year on any occasion, not only celebrations or holidays,” Ana Maria Aresti added.

According to its makers, the fizz, which has 12g/l of sugar, boasts notes of “apple, pink grapefruit, white flowers, honey and vanilla”.

The Arestis recommend enjoying it either as an apéritif, or with oysters, sushi and other seafood dishes.

Only Aresti Brut will make its debut at ProWein in Dusseldorf in March with an rrp of around £10 a bottle.

Based in the Curicó Valley, Viña Aresti is run by sisters Begoña and Ana Maria Aresti.
