Top 10 Zachys’ spirits lots for sale in HK

Lot 426: 42 bottles of The Macallan 1945-1986

 Forty-two bottles of The Macallan spanning 1945-1986 is perhaps the star lot in the spirits section of the sale on 22 November. Price – HK$1.2 million to HK$1.8m.

Lot 439: 1961 Macallan “Private Eye”

A rare bottle of The Macallan’s “Private Eye” series. Price – HK$22,000 to HK$34,000.

Lot 444: Eight 50ml of Macallan “Eight Decades”

One of a limited edition of just 250 sets, this collectors’ set contains whiskies back to the 1930s and was designed by Sir Peter Blake. Price – HK$75,000 to HK$100,000.

Lot 446: The Macallan, Masters of Photography Series, “Elliott Erwitt” Print 40

Another Macallan special edition, this time from its “Masters of Photography Series”. Price – HK$13,000 to HK$19,000.

Lot 466: The Macallan Select Reserve 1946

One of The Macallan’s select reserves, this 52-year-old malt will set you back HK$80,000-HK$100,000.

Lot 478-481: 21-year-old Hibiki in ceramic bottles

Alongside a core of rare Macallan whiskies, Japanese whisky will also be strongly represented, not least by these 21-year-old Hibikis in limited edition ceramic decanters. Price: HK$8,000 to HK$12,000 per lot.

Lot 482: Ichiro’s Malt Card – “The Joker”

Another Japanese malt, this time from one of Japan’s most acclaimed distilleries and in particular from its “Card Series”. The Joker is the 53rd (and final) expression in the series and is a vatting of the 1985, 1986, 1988, 1990, 1991 and 2000 vintages from a mixture of casks. Price – HK$12,000 to HK$16,000.

Lot 487: Karuizawa 1977 #4010 Geisha

A limited edition and extremely rare Karuizawa from 1977. Bottled in 2012 and released in 2013. Price – HK$18,000 to HK$28,000.

Lot 512: 31-year-old Karuizawa, Wait La Mazurka 1977

Another limited edition Karuizawa and from the same year as the previous lot. Matured in Sherry casks, 1970s Karuizawas are extremely popular at present. Estimates also of HK$18,000 to HK$28,000.

Lot 539: 40-year-old of the century, Yamazaki 1960

And finally, something special from Yamazaki, a 40-year-old whisky from 1960 with crystal decanter, presentation case and glassware. Price – HK$100,000 to HK$150,000.
