Robert L. Hall passed away at his home on Saturday, 4 October, following complications related to an extended illness, reported The Paso Robles Wine Country Alliance.

Prior to establishing the Robert Hall Winery, Hall had success working within sectors as varied as construction, bowling centres, travel agencies, restaurants and even champion horse breeding.

However it was a trip to southern France that confirmed his love of wine inspiring him to open The Robert Hall Winery with his wife Margaret in 1995 in the Paso Robles AVA, with their first wines released in 2001.

The Robert Hall Winery posted a statement on its website which read: “We are saddened to announce the passing of Robert L Hall, beloved owner of Robert Hall Winery. He will be missed. Please visit our Facebook page to offer your condolences and reflections.”

One well-wisher wrote: “What a gracious humble and welcoming man your father was. When we met THE Robert Hall he was very personable and enthusiastic about his wines. Also the winery is a beautiful pleasure to visit, thanks to his vision and entrepreneurial ship.”

Another noted: “He was such a genuine person. He could be found behind the counter pouring wine and greeted the people that visited his winery like he truly appreciated that they were there. My prayers are with his family right now.”

Hall is survived by his wife, Margaret Burrell Hall, who will continue to run the winery, and his three daughters.
