Paris Hilton racks up $230K bar bill

Paris Hilton, heiress to the Hilton hotel empire, showed she knows how to party by splashing US$230,000 (£140k) at a New York club on Wednesday.

The American socialite was partying at the Marquee club in New York where she and a table of friends are said to have ordered a selection of giant Ace of Spades Champagne bottles at $100,000 a pop and 11 bottles each of Patrón Tequila, Cristal Champagne and Grey Goose vodka.

According to the Daily Mail, the total bill amounted to $230,000, including a whopping $47,000 (£28k) tip.

While seven times most people’s yearly salary, $230k is a drop in the ocean for the 33-year-old who netted a reported $2.7 million in just four days as part of a four-month DJ tour – which took her to Ibiza where she spent time spinning the decks at club Amnesia.

In 2007 the heiress put her name to Rich Prosecco, posing provocatively in various high-heeled stages of undress in a saucy ad campaign for the sparkler, which caused outrage among producers of the Italian fizz.

“Hilton hotels are a sign of quality; Paris is not,” said one disgruntled grower at the time.
