PLB signs deal with UK Mitchells & Butler

PLB has secured a deal to provide South African wines to the UK pub and restaurant group Mitchells & Butler (M&B), furthering its reach into the UK on-trade.

The UK wine importer will supply entry level South African wines Sandbox and WhiteWaters to the group’s outlets throughout 2014/15 from April.

The wines will be listed across the group’s entire estate at restaurants and pubs including Browns, O’Neills, All Bar One, Nicholsons, Village Pub and Kitchen, Vintage Inns, Premium Country Dining, Ember Inns, Sizzling Pubs and Toby Carvery.

PLB will also supply the Australian Great Migrations Chardonnay and Shiraz to the group’s Castle pubs from 1 June, replacing McWilliams Sunstone, which PLB had previously supplied into the managed pub operator.

Jim Gill, PLB head of national accounts for on-trade said: “PLB are delighted

to be working with M&B on this project and across all elements of their retail offer.

“PLB wines are already present on wine lists in Nandos, GBK, Café Rouge, Strada, Hilton Hotels and Frankie & Bennys and these key new listings with M&B reinforce our commitment and the diversity and depth of PLB’s offering into the On-trade.”

Henry Boyes, wine category buyer at Mitchells and Butler added: “The wines PLB have sourced from their supply base are an excellent fit for our requirements.

“After having visited the facilities in South Africa I am very happy with my choice of core entry level supply and really looking forward to getting the wines into the business.”
