Singha named official beer of Rugby World Cup

Singha Beer from Thailand has today been named as the official beer of the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, which kicks off on Saturday, when England tackle Australia at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff.

Singha Beer will now be available from the bars and roving seller at many of the 21 venues that will be used during the tournament. The beer also expects to get prominent television exposure at all 28 matches during the competition.

Guntorn Permsup, Singha Beer’s corporate strategy assistant manager, said: “It is a great honour for Singha to be the official beer of Rugby League World Cup 2013. We are delighted for the given opportunity.

“Singha is the authentic original Thai beer since 1933 and has been established in the UK and Europe for more than 30 years. We are known for sponsoring Manchester United and Chelsea FC as the Official Partners and this tournament will enhance our reputation even further.

“We hope that this is just the beginning of Singha to be a part of the wonderful event. Lastly, I wish a great success in the tournament.”

World Cup tournament director Nigel Wood added: “We are delighted that Singha Beer has become the latest international brand to enter into partnership with Rugby League World Cup 2013 as the tournament’s Official Beer.

“Through their association with the tournament Singha will gain significant brand awareness, both from the bumper crowds at the 28 matches and through exposure on UK and international television.

“With the start of the tournament now within sight it’s already clear that RLWC2013 is going to be a huge commercial success and we look forward to making further exciting announcements in the days ahead.”

The tournament gets underway on Saturday with a double header that sees Wales take on Italy after the England, Australia clash. The final will take place on Saturday 30 November at Old Trafford in Manchester.
