Blandy’s new vineyards in pictures

Blandy’s CEO, Chris Balndy, recently told the drinks business about the company’s purchase of three vineyard plots on Madeira. Here, Blandy (right) looks over the largest site, Quinta do Bispo, which is being replanted for the first time in 30 years with a mixture of Malvasia, Sercial and Verdelho.

Blandy fixes the vineyard’s drip irrigation. At 4.5 hectares, Quinta do Bispo is the largest of the three sites and the vines will be trained in the traditional latada system. It will also be the largest continuous latada trained vineyard on the island.

The smallest property is Quinta do Santa Luzia in Funchal. Blandy hopes to convert it to a top Terrantez site.
