Coming into effect on 1 July, Georg will remain as owner and advisor to Maximilian, an 11th generation member of the Austrian Riedel family – the world’s leading wine glass producer.

Having joined the company in 1973 and collaborated with the likes of Robert Mondavi , Marcel Guigal, Angelo Gaja, Georg believes now is the time to transfer the business to the next generation.

“As owner, I will remain associated with the company. I’m proud of my son, who has expanded Riedel’s American operations with exceptional success, contributing to the company’s growth through his talent and creativity,” said Georg.

Maximilian’s sister, Laetizia Riedel-Rothlisberger, will assist Riedel in his new role as president in her capacity as corporate lawyer and brand ambassador.

“I’m proud to follow in the footsteps of my father and build upon his successes

“My vision is to strengthen the core European market, to expand our China subsidiary and to open new markets in Latin America within the next three years,” said Maximilian.

The 35-year-old has been working for his family company since the age of 18. At just 25 he was made CEO of Riedel Crystal, North America.

He recently answered our Proust Q&A, revealing a penchant for fast cars and Franz Kafka.
