db‘s deputy editor was in Porto last week for an historic Cockburn’s vintage Port tasting. Among the treasure trove of historical records and books were these zinc-clad cupboards, where city’s Factory House stores copies of The Times dating right back to the paper’s first edition.

Team Sichel pose for a team shot after completing the Olympic Bask Marathon in the Basque town of Saint-Jean de Luz. The race involves a 1.5km swim, a 40km bike ride and then a 10km race. Rémy Sichel came out top in the inter-family race, this time.

After the Cockburn’s tasting, db went on a wander round The Factory House in Porto and found the old kitchen beautifully preserved.

After popping into the Mezcaleria bar launch at Wahaca Charlotte Street, db thought it would be rude not to sneak a peek at the newly opened Bubbledogs down the road, owned by dynamic food and wine duo James Knappett and Sandia Chang, where we indulged in a fiery Buffalo dog and a refreshing glass of grower Champagne from Gaston Chiquet.
