Mentzendorff signs Casa Marin

Mentzendorff has signed an agency agreement with Chilean producer Casa Marin, a family run boutique winery in the Lo Abarca Valley, within the San Antonio region.

Founded in 1999 by Maria Luz Marin (left), the 40-hectare estate is cared for by hand.

Luz Marin was named Winemaker of the Year in 2009 by Chilean wine guide Guía Mujer y Vino, and is the only female winemaker in Chile to have set up her own winery.

The cool climate and maritime influence distinguishes the San Antonio region, promoting a longer ripening period and imparting a unique character to the wines.

“It is a pleasure for us to be returning the wines of Casa Marin to the UK market where we feel convinced there is a demand for their high quality,” said Andrew Hawes, managing director of Mentzendorff.

“We are very much looking forward to working with Maria Luz and her family,” Hawes added.

The full range, including Miramar Vineyard Riesling 2009, Lo Abarca Hills Vineyard Pinot Noir 2007, Estero Vineyard Sauvignon Gris 2009, and Miramar Vineyard Syrah 2009, will be available to taste at the London International Wine Fair in May.
