A call to arms for the trade

Donations for the Fine Wine Fair’s Help for Heroes online auction are starting to come in, buoyed by a recent gift of Grand Cru Echezeaux Dessus 2003, but more lots are still needed.

The 12-bottle case of Echezeaux from Domain Jayer-Gilles, worth £2,035 from Everywine, is a great addition to the burgeoning line-up, which also includes a magnum of Cristal 2002.

The online auction, provided by Bid for Wine, goes live on 15 October.

The auction will run until the conclusion of the fair on 17 October and 100% of the profits will go to the charity, which provides support for the UK’s wounded servicemen and women.

Bid for Wine and Sensible Wine Services, who will handle the lots, are both donating their services. Lionel Nierop, managing director of Bid for Wine said he was “delighted to raise money for this excellent cause”.

Donations do not need to be extravagant and all lots are welcome, from a bottle of non-vintage Champagne to a case of first growth claret.
