Taittinger takes action against hunger

Champagne Taittinger is doing its bit for Action Against Hunger’s “Fight Hunger Eat Out” campaign.

As part of its corporate sponsorship of the initiative, the Champagne house has pledged to donate 50p for every glass and £2 for every bottle of Tattinger sold in participating restaurants, bars or hotels during the campaign.

Running from 1 September until 31 October, the 12th annual Fight Hunger Eat Out campaign has won the support of many of the UK’s top chefs, including Raymond Blanc, Antonio Carluccio and Rick Stein.

Over 500 restaurants are taking part in this year’s campaign, including The River Café, Zuma, The Greenhouse, Le Gavroche, St John and Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons. Each venue will ask its customers to make a small donation with their bill, or to purchase a certain dish from which a donation is made.

To date, the UK’s food lovers have already raised £1.5million towards Action Against Hunger’s work in over 40 countries. The charity’s activities range from using £1 donations to help a farmer produce enough rice to feed his family for four days, to the £36 capable of providing a month’s home treatment for a malnourished child.
