Maxxium scoops two marketing awards

Maxxium will be enjoying a celebratory dram or two having picked up both the top prizes at the Marketing Awards Scotland. Managing director Huw Pennell was named marketer of the year while the Famous Grouse’s partnership with Scottish rugby won the sponsorship excellence category.

Pennel joined the distribution network in 1999 after previously working for Allied Domecq, Scottish & Newcastle and Remy-Cointreau. He was appointed marketing director in 2001 and MD last year. Commenting on his award he said, “We’re all champions of marketing excellence at Maxxium. It’s in our blood and it’s what makes working with brands of the calibre of The Famous Grouse, Absolut, Jim Beam and Rémy Martin a genuine pleasure.”

The Famous Grouse was saluted for it’s unswerving support of Scottish rugby over the last 16 years. Fittingly the award was made just days after the brand extended the partnership by a further two years to 2009. Marketing manager Emma Heath commented, “the judges clearly recognised this as a ‘perfect union’ and one that allowed rugby fans from all sides the chance to experience the brand and get swept up by our passion for the sport”.
