Business Stockmarket: Chelsea goes for Heineken

Chelsea Football Club has clinched a four-year contract with Heineken, which has paid around £1m for the right to be the sole provider of beer in venues within the grounds of Stamford Bridge until the end of the 2009-10 season.

Heineken takes over from Budweiser now that the US brewer’s four-year contract has come to an end. During the season, football fans at the Chelsea ground drink over half a million pints of beer. Budweiser has lost its contract to supply Arsenal, but also continues to supply Manchester City and Manchester United.
