Genoa’s La Birralonga event returns for 2026
Italian craft beer celebration La Birralonga has returned to the streets of Genoa with eight days of events and a grand tasting.

The programme, which spanned 17-24 May, marked the 10th-anniversary edition of the annual beer gathering, with its organisers outlining the appearance of a swathe of Italy’s best craft beers being featured in tastings across Genoa’s historic centre.
Taking beer fans on a journey
The historic port city of Genoa is located in north-western Italy and sits on the Gulf of Genoa in the Ligurian Sea and serves as the capital of the Liguria region in the heart of the Italian Riviera.
The annual La Birralonga event was first established in 2015 as a way to take beer fans on a journey through malts, hops and meetings with award-winning breweries from across Italy and culminating in a festival hosted in the narrow backstreets and alleys of Genoa.

According to a spokesperson for the event organisers Contatto Genova, attendees would be entitled to attend a selection of “workshops, tastings and a packed calendar of events to discover the world of brewing and the passion of those who protect it every day”.
Tastings and pairings
Additionally, all attendees were encouraged to reserve a card for the tastings and food to make the most of the full event.
Each card included a full tasting, paired appetisers, and the option to collect a glass and shoulder bag at the departure point at Piazza San Lorenzo.
The event, organised by Contatto Genova, also featured a beer partnership with Union Birrai in collaboration with the Genoa Chamber of Commerce.
