Inside Koan’s £2,000 wine pairing with rare Krug by the glass

Copenhagen’s two Michelin-starred Koan has recently launched a £2,000 prestige wine pairing, featuring rare vintages, becoming the only restaurant in Denmark to pour Krug Clos du Mesnil by the glass.

Two Michelin-starred restaurant Koan in Copenhagen has launched a rare and highly curated wine and Champagne programme, designed to pair with its Korean-Danish tasting menu.

At the centre of the offering is a focus on Krug, with the restaurant currently the only venue in Denmark pouring Krug Clos du Mesnil, including the 2009 vintage, by the glass.

Krug takes centre stage

Krug runs as a defining thread throughout the programme. Alongside Clos du Mesnil, diners can expect Grand Cuvée as well as vintage expressions from 2000 and 2013, all integrated into the restaurant’s pairing options.

The broader wine list also reflects a strong emphasis on top-tier producers, with a balance of mature vintages and younger wines selected for their expression.

Prestige pairing highlights

Koan’s Prestige Wine pairing has been developed to complement the restaurant’s Korean-Danish cuisine, aiming to balance intensity, structure and nuance across the menu.
