The appearance is mid-gold; the wine clean as a whistle on the nose and fairly pronounced. The fruit is ripe and inviting, showing touches of melon and pear. Medium-dry and mid-bodied in the mouth. The acidity is refreshing and there is a nice mouthfeel. The attractive fruit follows through from the nose onto the palate, with decent length on the finish. (Jonathan Pedley MW)

Youthful and vibrant, the palate is medium-dry, with acidity in the mid-high range. While the palate is mid- to light-bodied, there is no shortage of texture. As on the nose, there are plenty of flavours to conjure with. (Jonathan Pedley MW)
VICE BY GIESEN CHARDONNAY 2021

- Region: Various
- Country: New Zealand
- Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
- ABV: 0.0%
- Residual sugar: 9.6g/l
- Approx. retail price: £40
With more than four decades of winemaking experience, Giesen is well-placed to expand into the non-alcoholic arena. And this is only the most recent example of their superb range. This wine, mid-gold in hue, shows white orchard fruits and a hint of citrus, with a delicately smoky, toasty oak overlay. Nearly dry, the palate is mid-weight and sappy, with racy acidity and a creamy texture, nicely integrated with the fruit and wood. Good length and rather serious, the wine would pair well with the French classic duck à l’orange. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
JÖRG GEIGER TEASECCO NV

Jörg Geiger is one of the largest global producers of non-alcoholic drinks, including wines and this intriguing fruit cuvée. Quite deep gold with a wide cordon and a few random bubbles, the drink is slightly cidery with ripe apples, pears, yellow peach and green tea flavours. Fizzy across the palate with brittle mousse texture, good freshness and a little tannic grip. Quite sweet, with lovely definition, interest and good length, it would be a good pairing for traditional fish and chips with mushy peas, or perhaps vegetarian bruschetta. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
GRAF HARDEGG GRAPE KOMBUCHA 2024

Well-known for its wide range of wines, Weingut Graf Hardegg now produces two alcohol-free aromatised wines. Medium yellow-gold in colour with a touch of sparkle and natural haze, the wine is medium-dry, with plenty of grapey green fruit character accented by camomile, tea leaves, mint and lemon-lime leaves. Medium-bodied and quite smooth with moderate acidity and a hint of grass, this is an excellent choice for Chinese dim sum. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)

Since 2003, Jörg Geiger has been crafting alcohol-free drinks from grapes, heritage fruits and more than 200 herbs and spices. This is a proper sparkling wine. Pale yellow-gold in hue with streams of bubbles and a mid-width cordon, the wine shows white cherry, green pears and red apple, with a yeasty overlay. Off-dry, the mid-weight palate has racy acidity and a linen-textured mousse to support the flavours. Well-defined and with good length, this is a delicious aperitif to serve with crab Louis. EDENVALE PREMIUM RESERVE COLLECTION SPARKLING SHIRAZ NV

- Region: Southeastern Australia,
- Country: Australia
- Grape varieties: 88% Shiraz, 12% other black varieties,
- ABV: 0.5%
- Residual sugar: 47g/l,
- Approx. retail price: £10
Edenvale was founded in 2006 on the belief that grapes can make good wines, even when the alcohol has been removed. This wine is a really good example of sparkling Shiraz. Medium-deep ruby-coloured with a fizzy aspect, the wine exhibits blackberry-blueberry and cranberry fruit, with a typical black pepper accent, showing the varietal character. Medium in sweetness, this easy-drinking, consumer-friendly wine has a nice balance of sweet fruit flavour, tangy acidity and a touch of tannin adding grip across the palate. A really great drink for a pulled pork sandwich or a Philadelphia cheese steak in winter months, or for an ocean-front barbecue when summer next arrives. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)

A delicious holiday offering from Jörg Geiger, this wine will be perfect with leftover Christmas pudding or mince pies. Deep ruby-purple in colour, the wine is packed with red and black fruits, and plenty of Christmas spices. Medium-sweet, the palate is medium-weight with plenty of fruit-and-spice flavours balanced by lively acidity and a little tannin adding structure. Will also be a match for venison mince with dates, dried apricots and onion wrapped and baked in puff pastry – a great dinner on cold winter nights. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
PONTO NERO LIVE ZERO NV

- Country: Brazil
- Grape variety: 100% Moscato
- ABV: 0.0%
- Residual sugar: 61.25g/l
- Approx. retail price: £5.50
Located in the Vale des Vinhedos in Brazil, Ponto Nero is well-regarded for its espumantes, and this non-alcoholic example gives a reason to agree wholeheartedly. Made from Moscato using the Charmat method to preserve freshness and fruitiness, the wine is almost water-white in hue and gently fizzy. Medium-sweet and light-bodied, the flavours are reminiscent of white cherry, white peach and pear, supported by lively acidity and a subtle, creamy mousse texture. Light and easy in style, this works well with pear tart. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
DOMAINE EDEM BLONDE 2025

- Producer: Domaine EdeM
- Region: Mendoza
- Country: Argentina
- Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
- ABV: 0.5%
- Residual sugar: 103g/l
- Approx. retail price: £19.99
The wine has a powerful mousse and is a mid-gold colour. The nose is pungent and packed with winter spice aromas: clove, cinnamon and mace. The palate is sweet, but with high acidity providing balance. Surprisingly, the overall texture on the palate is light and fresh. Mid-length, there is a lovely apple crumble impression on the finish. Definitely a “speed bump” wine that makes you sit up and take notice. (Jonathan Pedley MW)
LÉOUBE FOREVER SPARKLING LOVE ROSÉ NV

- Region: Provence
- Country: France
- Grape varieties: 60% Cinsault, 40% Grenache

Château Léoube fashions beautiful rosé wines from organically-grown grapes from its vineyards, where the land meets the sea in the Provençal département of the Var, overlooking the Hyères islands. This, Léoube’s zero-alcohol sparkling version, is delightful. Medium vieux-rose in colour with midsized bubbles and a wide cordon, the wine is fragrant and packed with strawberry and cranberry fruit, accented by a touch of garrigue. Medium-dry, the light-bodied palate has well-defined flavours balanced by crisp acidity and brittle mousse texture. Savoury on the finish, this wine would make a good pairing for smoked salmon-crème fraiche canapés. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
MAISON SAINT AIX BEAU VIVA ROSÉ NV

- Producer: Maison Saint Aix,
- Region: Provence,
- Country: France
- Grape varieties: 60% Cinsault, 40% Grenache,
- ABV: 0.0%
- Residual sugar: 40g/l,
- Approx. retail price: £28
Maison Saint Aix is located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, almost in the shadow of Mont Ste Victoire. Renowned for Aix Rosé, this expression maintains the esprit of Maison Aix in a non-alcoholic version. Very, very pale rose-peach with noticeable sparkle, the wine shows delicate white cherry and white peach fruit, with lemon and orange blossom notes, and a hint of fresh bread autolysis. Medium in sweetness, the light-bodied palate has brisk acidity and mouth-filling mousse in balance. Nicely defined and quite long. A very attractive wine that is a good foil for Japanese sushi and sashimi. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
BEST-IN-CLASS: CHAVIN ZERO ROSÉ NV

- Producer: Pierre Chavin
- Region: France
- Country: France
- Grape varieties: 60 Cinsault, 20% Syrah, 20% Grenache
- ABV: 0.0%
- Residual sugar: 25g/l
- Approx. retail price: £18
Based in Béziers in the South of France, Chavin is an innovative producer of wines with a focus on lighter, lower-alcohol and no-alcohol. Under the direction of Mathilde Boulachin, a native of Champagne with extensive experience in Sweden, the company is setting a serious bar in the world of non-alcoholic white and pink wines. This wine is a practically perfect example. Pale vieux-rose in hue with gentle effervescence, the wine displays strawberry, cherry and pomegranate fruit, with a hint of smoky yeast character. Medium-dry, the palate is mid-weight and well-defined, with bracing acidity, crunchy mousse texture and linearity across the mid-palate. Long and savoury on the finish, this is a no-alcohol wine that actually tastes like the real deal. The lightish style would be absolutely stunning paired with Beijing Chinese cuisine, especially where chicken or prawns form part of the dishes. (Patricia Stefanowicz MW)
And finally…
We couldn’t feature the leading no and low drinks of 2026 without mentioning the biggest name to enter the growing sector: Elton John, with his Zero Blanc de Blancs – an alcohol-free sparkling wine made from Italian Chardonnay.
ELTON JOHN ZERO BLANC DE BLANCS

A pale and light sparkling drink with enticing fruity-floral scents and flavours of ripe pear and white-fleshed peach, with a touch of pineapple too, complemented by notes of orange blossom and elderflower. While there is a subtle sweetness (35g/l r.s.), the finish is bright, with palate-cleansing bubbles and an appealing note of lime zest, followed by a dry sensation from a touch of fine tannin. In short, this is a squeaky-clean 0% fizz with a sophisticated and appealing personality – there is nothing saccharine or confected about this newcomer to the expanding alcohol-free wine sector. (Patrick Schmitt MW, December 2025)
