Win a £1,500 wine fridge with Wine List Confidential

With the London Wine Fair just one week away, the drinks business is inviting the trade to celebrate the very best restaurants for wine in London at the first Wine List Confidential awards, and to visit our stand for the chance to wine a £1,500 fridge.

Launched by the drinks business last year, Wine List Confidential is a unique platform that uses a numeric rating system that allows wine lovers to quickly compare the wine offer in restaurants, no matter what the food or format, highlighting the very best restaurants in London for wine. Following an extensive judging process, the first Wine List Confidential 2018 Awards will take place at this year’s London Wine Fair to celebrate the highest rated restaurants, and the sommeliers behind them.

Winners will be unveiled at the Wine List Confidential stand (F45) at The London Wine Fair on Monday, 21 May, between 4-5pm, with all visitors to the fair invited to attend to celebrate the winners and for a glass of Disznókő dry Furmint or Quinta do Noval tawny Port.

Award categories include Best Wine List in London, Best Newcomer and Most Improved, with those restaurants achieving the highest individual ratings for Value, Originality and Service also set to be commended.

Over the course of the three-day fair, visitors to the stand will also be able to try their luck at a blind tasting competition for the chance to win a £1,500 mQuvée wine fridge, offered in partnership with the London Wine Fair.

Simply taste the mystery wine on stand and tell us what country, region and variety you think it represents for a chance to win the prize. The winner will be announced at 4pm on Wednesday on the Wine List Confidential stand.

You could win a fridge like this…

The awards ceremony will coincide with the launch of a comprehensive 200-page Wine List Confidential 2018 guide to the best restaurants for wine in London, featuring in-depth reviews of the capital’s top 100 restaurants, interviews with some of the biggest names in the business and analysis on the trends dominating London’s on-trade.

The inaugural awards ceremony will offer outstanding restaurants high profile recognition at what is the biggest wine and spirits trade show in the UK, and will also kick start a series of events and tastings targeted at the on-trade and sommeliers.

At 10.30 am on Tuesday, Wine List Confidential will host a masterclass on how best to retain staff within an increasingly challenging economic environment, chaired by prominent sommeliers, restaurant managers and key figures in the UK on-trade.

A second masterclass will take place on Wednesday between 3-4pm, moderated by editor-in-chief of the drinks business, Patrick Schmitt MW, on what makes a winning wine list, inviting comment from a panel of high profile experts in the field.

Throughout the fair, guests to the Wine List Confidential stand will be able to pick up their free copy of Wine List Confidential 2018, sample exclusive wines and test their tasting abilities for the chance to win a state-of-the-art wine fridge.

The London Wine Fair will take place on 21-23 May at the Olympia Exhibition Centre in west London.
