Domaine du Grand Mayne launches crowd-funding campaign

Domaine du Grand Mayne in South West France has launched the second round of its crowd-funding campaign to further investment in the winery.

The British-owned property in the Côtes de Duras AOC is seeking to raise £100,000 from the funding drive.

An initial campaign run a few years ago attracted 700 investors, who now can buy wine at discounted prices and rent the six-bedroom farmhouse at special rates.

Philip Addis, former owner of Great Western Wines and a member of the advisory group for the business, commented: “We have a very loyal band of customers who have a vested interest in helping the winery continue to grow by continuing to buy our wines, and we want to open this opportunity up to more people.

“It’s an easy way for wine lovers to live the dream of owning part of a winery – for minimal financial input!”

Founded by Andrew Gordon who restored a derelict French farmhouse in 1985 and planted vines, Domaine du Grand Mayne was sold to its current owners in 2013 and they have begun a new round of investment in the property, overseen by a group including Gordon, Addis and winemaking consultant Martin Meinert.

The campaign went live on Seedrs at the start of May 2018.
