Magrez to produce new Médoc label

Bernard Magrez, the owner of Pape Clément, has acquired a parcel of vines in St-Estéphe for a newly created label.

The acquisition was revealed last week but exact details, including the number of hectares purchased or the sum paid, were not revealed.

A press release stated that the new label would go by the name of ‘Clos Sanctus Perfectus’ and would produce just 3,000 bottles a year.

Apparently created in response to “market demand”, the wine, when it appears, will only be sold through a select through distributors.

Magrez already owns four classified properties in Bordeaux: the aforementioned Château Pape Clément in Graves; Château La Tour-Carnet in Haut-Médoc; Château Fombrauge in Saint Emilion and Château Clos Haut-Peyraguey in Sauternes, as well as 13 other estates in Bordeaux and several more estates around the world in Argentina, Chile, Spain and California among other places.
