Hush Heath produces Tesco own-label English fizz

Kent wine estate Hush Heath has produced a sparkling wine for Tesco’s finest* own-label range – the first English sparkling to be launched by the supermarket giant.

Hush Heath Estate has produced Tesco’s first ever own-label English sparkling wine

As reported in db last week, Tesco has boosted its own-label range with the introduction of more than 20 new lines under its core and finest* wine range.

The finest* English Sparkling by Heath Hush Estate is the first own-label English sparkling wine to be released by Tesco. It comes as Aldi also releases its own-label English sparkling in partnership with Denbies Wine Estate in Surrey.

At 11.5% ABV, the Tesco finest* English sparkling has been released in response to “growing consumer demand for first-class English sparkling wine at a very accessible price point”.

The launch comes as Hush Heath owner Richard Balfour-Lynn prepares to travel to the US in support of the biggest ever shipment of English sparkling wine across the Atlantic.

As reported in the drinks business, the British Bottle Company sent its first full 20ft container of English wine – more than 5,000 bottles of fizz – to the US last month. Around half of the shipment was wine from Hush Heath Estate.

Commenting on the estate’s partnership with Tesco, Balfour-Lynn said: “As a boutique, family-owned winery using only estate-grown grapes, we’ve been in an ideal position to work closely with Tesco developing an English sparkling blend exclusively for the finest* range.”

“The team at Tesco and Hush Heath Estate had Tesco customers firmly in mind while developing the blend, ensuring a typical expression for English sparkling wine, and most importantly that every bottle delivers the quality and flavours that Hush Heath Estate is recognised for at a price point that is incredible value.
