WineGB rallies independents for English Wine Week
WineGB has called on independent retailers to support English Wine Week with in-store promotions, tastings and a stronger focus on local wines.

WineGB has urged independent retailers and hospitality operators across the UK to support this year’s English Wine Week by stocking more English and Welsh wines and taking part in the annual campaign.
Running from 20–28 June, English Wine Week is WineGB’s national celebration of homegrown wine, designed to showcase the quality, diversity and innovation of producers across the country.
The trade body said growing consumer demand for local, sustainable and premium products presents a strong opportunity for independents to differentiate their ranges while increasing store traffic.
WineGB is offering participating retailers campaign assets, point-of-sale materials and promotional support to help raise visibility during the week.
Retailers are being encouraged to get involved through in-store promotions, tastings, dedicated displays and local storytelling initiatives intended to connect consumers with nearby vineyards.
Driving footfall through local wine
In a statement, Nicola Bates, CEO of WineGB, said: “Independent retailers are uniquely placed to champion local producers. Consumers trust their recommendations, value their expertise, and look to them for discovery. English Wine Week is the perfect moment to spotlight the exceptional wines being made right here in the UK and to turn that excitement into increased footfall and sales, all year long.”

WineGB said English Wine Week offers a commercial opportunity for independents as the English and Welsh wine category continues to gain momentum, supported by new vineyard plantings, increased production volumes and growing recognition for quality and sustainability.
According to the organisation, retailers that fully embrace the category are well positioned to build customer loyalty and strengthen their competitive edge.
