Esmeralda’s Mayfair opens late-night lounge at Mandarin Oriental

A new live music-led late-night lounge has opened inside Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, combining cocktails, dining and entertainment in the heart of Hanover Square.

A new late-night venue, Esmeralda’s Mayfair, has opened inside Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, with public reservations now open.

Located in Hanover Square, the lounge opened following a preview for hotel residents and guests. It now welcomes the wider public from 8pm until late on Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings.

The venue combines live music, cocktails and late-night dining, with the concept drawing inspiration from New York nightlife.

Live music focus

Live performance sits at the centre of the concept. A six-piece resident band performs soul, funk and disco sets each evening, while a DJ plays disco-infused house music between live performances.

Unannounced appearances from established artists may also feature during the evenings.

Each night ends with a complimentary mini champagne served with every bill.

Cocktails and late-night dining

The cocktail menu was created by Anna Sebastian’s consultancy, Anna Sebastian Hospitality, and focuses on reinterpreted classics.

Drinks include the Dubai Layover, which reimagines the Espresso Martini with pistachio-infused Belvedere Vodka, tahini and dark chocolate, with an alcohol free option also available.

Partner Content

Other cocktails include the Paloma-Politan, combining Patrón Silver and mezcal with grapefruit, cranberry, black pepper and cardamom bitters, and the East Coast Matcha, a clarified martini made with gin, matcha, blueberry and coconut rum fat-washed with milk.

The late-night food menu features dishes such as house-smoked Martini olives, NYC-style pepperoni pizzetta, Jersey oysters served on silver, skinny fries with truffle mayo and an American-style lobster roll.

Signature items include Esmeralda’s truffle-Mornay hotdog, seven-way-cut mini beef burgers and the Caviar Nugget topped with 5g of Ossetra caviar. Desserts include a strawberry sundae and a warm fudge brownie.

Founded by twin brothers

Esmeralda’s was founded by identical twins Lee Caulfield and Nicky Caulfield. The pair created the venue in response to what they felt London nightlife had been missing: a space combining live music, cocktails and hospitality.

Lee Caulfield began his career in 2009 working with high-profile figures including George Clooney and Amal Clooney, organising restaurant reservations, entertainment experiences and hotel stays for international clients.

Nicky Caulfield previously worked as a professional drummer on West End and touring productions including Only Fools & Horses The Musical, Avenue Q and Joseph & His Technicolour Dreamcoat. He later founded Molto Music Group, which curates live entertainment for venues and brands including The Dorchester, Hermès and American Express.

Chauffeur partnership

From March, Esmeralda’s will also introduce a private chauffeur service in partnership with Bentley Motors.

Guests will be able to book collection in a Bentley Bentayga Speed through Jack Barclay Bentley as part of a minimum spend at the venue.

Esmeralda’s also operates a strict no photo policy intended to allow guests to “be fully present” during the experience.
