Noel Edmonds takes Champagne cork to the face
The Noel Edmond’s House Party presenter has revealed he was “nearly floored” when he was hit by a flying cork popped by Irish motorcyclist Michael Dunlop during his podium celebration after winning the Classic TT race this week.

Noel Edmonds took to Instagram to share news of an unusual injury obtained while attending the delayed Classic TT motorcycle race on the Isle of Mann this week. The event was already fraught with tension after having been rescheduled several times before finally taking place on Wednesday evening.
However, Michael Dunlop got the win on his 250cc Honda, securing his first Classic TT Lightweight victory with a 47-second lead over runner-up, Yamaha’s Ian Lougher. Keen to celebrate his winning performance, Dunlop popped a bottle of Champagne on the podium, which had unfortunate repercussions for Edmonds, who was standing nearby.
In a video posted to his 80,000 Instagram followers, Edmonds held up the cork to the camera and described the moment he was “almost KO’d by Michael Dunlop”.
“And we’re there, and the podium is just above, and he pops off his Champagne – and his cork nearly floored me!” Edmonds wrote to his 80,000 Instagram followers.
‘I accept, Michael, this is your property. However, I have a mate, Ian, who is one of your biggest fans, and if it’s OK with you, I would like to give him this Champagne cork from 27 August 2025.

Sliding doors
Edmonds is a passionate fan of the sport and has previously said that he “would have loved to have been a racing driver” in the past. The TV star, who recently bought a house on the Isle of Mann, is also a licensed helicopter pilot and has flown various helicopters, including the Bell 47, Bell 206 and Agusta A109.
Seemingly good natured about the accident, Edmonds said: “The icing on the cake was seeing Michael Dunlop win, yet again, well done Michael. I’m so happy.”
Honda does not appear to have an official Champagne sponsor, but from television footage the Champagne label on the bottle Dunlop sprays looks to be purple and yellow, suggesting the fizz in question might have been Pol Roger or even Taittinger Nocturne. Dunlop is yet to comment on the incident.
In May, db reported that Edmonds allegedly sacked 17 staff at his New Zealand pub and winery without notice. Workers at his River Haven winery are said to have been “blindsided” when their employment was terminated out of the blue after Edmonds decided to shut up shop for winter. The star had previously been embroiled in a dispute with his local council in New Zealand after he stonewalled the creation of a cycling trail on the basis that it would have passed through his land. Despite the council promising the trail could bring “thousands” of visitors to his winery each year, he reportedly refused, calling the idea dangerous and a waste of money.
