Côtes de Provence gains new cru

Côtes de Provence has named a new cru.

Sainte Victoire covers the hillsides of the upper Arc Valley. Its climate is continental, protected from maritime influences from the south by the Aurélien Mountains and the Sainte-Baume massif.

Nine communes are included in the delimited area of the Sainte-Victoire terroir: in the Bouches-du-Rhône department, Châteauneuf-le-Rouge, Le Tholonet, Meyreuil, Peynier, Puyloubier, Rousset and Trets; in the Var, Pourcieux and Pourrières.

Until now, Sainte Victoire has been one of the five complimentary geographical designations (DGC), along with Fréjus, La Londe, Pierrefeu and Notre-Dame des Anges.

Sainte Victoire is a red and rosé wine producing appellation in Provence.

Rosé blends from Sainte Victoire are dominated by Cinsault, Grenache and Syrah grapes.

Grenache, Syrah and a small proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon make up the majority of grapes grown for red wine production.

Only the labelling for the appellation wines has changed, and grape varieties, blends and yields remain unchanged.
