Pint-sized pub cat named Hobgoblin seeks new home
A special rehoming appeal for a six-month-old cat that was rescued from a pub in Rotherham has been launched by the RSPCA.

The feline, called Hobgoblin after the beer range – and also affectionately due to the cat’s big eyes and small stature, was rescued by RSPCA officers from the RSPCA Chesterfield and North Derbyshire branch after welfare concerns were raised about 30 cats living in the condemned pub building.
Richard Grainger, animal care assistant at the branch, said: “Perhaps it’s apt that a cat found in a pub turned out to be pint-sized. Hobgoblin’s eyes look even bigger compared to his little frame – as if he’s permanently held in a state of shock.”
Grainger explained that at first Hobgoblin “found entering into our care somewhat overwhelming” but assured that “after all he has been through, his sweetness remains entirely undiminished” and noted how now “he will let out a quiet purr when receiving a chin tickle”.

Grainger pointed out: “Hobgoblin just needs a quiet home with an owner who is understanding, and a lap which is warm and comfy.”
According to the RSPCA, Hobgoblin may be able to live with another cat and a friendly dog and he would be best suited to families with children of primary school age or older.
The team also highlighted how even though “he is a rather quiet feline” he has “lots of love to give and adores fuss and attention”.
If anyone thinks they can give Hobgoblin a home, the RSPCA has urged interested parties to visit his profile online.
