Arturo Martorelli named new chair of Aluminium Closures Group
Arturo Martorelli has been elected Chair of the Aluminium Closures Group, succeeding Franco Bove after 14 years.

Arturo Martorelli, chief commercial officer of Guala Closures, has been elected chair of the aluminium closures group (ACG), becoming the first new leader of the organisation since its foundation in 2011.
His appointment was announced at the ACG Summer Conference, held in late June in Ljubljana. He was unanimously elected to the position, while Patrick Broom was re-elected as Vice-Chair.
Fresh leadership, continued direction
ACG brings together the world’s leading producers of aluminium closures and their suppliers from the aluminium industry, accounting for around 75% of global aluminium closure production. The group’s work spans market analysis, sustainability, recycling, and the promotion of aluminium screw caps, widely used in wine, spirits, mineral water, and oil and vinegar packaging.

Martorelli brings extensive international experience in sales, marketing, and general management, particularly across packaging and consumer goods. His background includes strategic development and global market expansion—skills the group says will add value to its activities going forward.
“I am pleased about the trust placed in me and the opportunity to help shape the activities of the Aluminium Closures Group in an exciting yet challenging market phase,” said Martorelli. “Together with the member companies, we will continue to strengthen our work – with a clear focus on sustainability, circular economy, and the functional as well as economic benefits of aluminium closures.”
A steady market with sustainable promise
The ACG praised outgoing Chair Franco Bove for his “great personal commitment” in leading the group since its formation. His leadership saw the group engage more closely with bottlers and successfully promote aluminium closures as a sustainable packaging choice.
The organisation described the election as a moment of both continuity and renewed energy, as the market for aluminium closures remains stable and “forward-looking”, supported by consumer preference, recycling performance, and growing demand for sustainable solutions.
