Majestic partners with Club Soda
Wine retailer Majestic has partnered with no- and low-alcohol drinks specialist Club Soda to cater to ever-growing demand in the category.
The agreement will see Majestic stock nine Club Soda products in all of its 212 stores across the UK and online – neatly coinciding with next month’s ‘Dry January’.
Launched this week, the range includes Eisberg 0% wines, Moderato 0% wines, Three Spirits Nightcap, Everleaf Mountain, Botivo and Real Drinks Dry Dragon Sparkling Tea (pictured).
According to Majestic, sales of its no- and low-alcohol drinks have increased by more than 600% since March 2022. The Club Soda additions are set to double Majestic’s stock of no- and low-alcohol drinks.
Club Soda, founded by former Lib Dem councillor Laura Willoughby MBE, began as an online community to help people to positively alter their drinking habits, a sort of “Weight Watchers, but with booze”, Willoughby told db in a 2023 Big Interview.
Since securing £30,000 of funding in 2022, Club Soda has operated as an independent retailer following successful pop-up events, complete with an in-store tasting room and drinking space at its Covent Garden flagship.
Earlier this year, market intelligence agency Mintel estimated that the UK’s no- and low-alcohol drinks market would be worth £380 million by the end of 2024, a 50% increase in five years.
Meanwhile, projections from the IWSR suggest that the UK’s no- and low market could be worth £800 million by 2028, as a result of changes to alcohol excise duty and a growing trend towards conscious consumption among younger consumers.
Club Soda currently only sells products via its website and its tasting room and shop in Covent Garden. The Majestic partnership marks its first-ever tie-up with a national bricks-and-mortar retailer, hot on the heels of its acquisition of on-tap wine bar brand Vagabond.
“We are thrilled to be partnering with Club Soda, the global leaders in the low and no-alcohol drinks space,” Zara Cassidy, Majestic buyer for no- and low, said.
“Their commitment to quality, choice, and inclusivity aligns perfectly with our own values at Majestic.”
Club Soda Co-founder Laura Willoughby MBE continued: “We’re on a mission to make alcohol-free options as accessible as alcohol – and Majestic’s nationwide network makes that happen.
“With their focus on quality and knowledgeable sales teams, finding the perfect drink has never been easier. Our launch collection brings top-sellers from our Covent Garden tasting room – Majestic customers are going to love them,” Willoughby concluded.
