The new Christie’s site, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, spans 50,000 square feet across three floors at The Henderson in Central.

The company described the space as a “significant investment”. Executives at the auction house were keen to highlight the dedication to the Asia Pacific region for sales of art and luxury goods.

Guillaume Cerutti, Christie’s CEO, commented: “The opening of Christie’s new Asia Pacific headquarters is a milestone moment in our 250-year history and reflects the integral and influential position the region holds in the global art and luxury market. At this new home, Christie’s will drive the future of collecting in Asia and advance how we bridge East and West for our clients worldwide.”

Francis Belin, president, Christie’s Asia Pacific, called the opening of the site a “major step to support our growth across the region in both art and luxury”.

He said: “With one integrated hub at The Henderson, we have the long-needed flexibility to hold sales and activities in-house throughout the year, and expand our scope for creative exhibitions, innovation, and educational programmes, enabling us to make significant progress towards our sustainability goals.

Christie’s currently has showrooms in Amsterdam, Dubai, Geneva, Hong Kong, London, Los Angeles, Milan, New York, Paris and Shanghai.

To mark the occasion, a ribbon cutting ceremony was officiated by François Pinault from Group Artémis and the director of the Christie’s Board, Guillaume Cerutti, CEO of Christie’s, and Francis Belin, president of Christie’s Asia Pacific.

Recent fine wine sales at Christie’s have included the sale of two bottles of 1945 Clos de Tart Grand Cru for 14x their estimate, and the auction of wines from the cellar of London restaurant Le Gavroche, which raised £1.9m.
