London City Bond expands capacity
London City Bond (LCB) has announced a further increase in their overall storage capacity to support both the on- and off-trade.
Having opened up three new sites last year, this year has seen the expansion of two of their existing sites at Tilbury and Glasgow.
The growing trend towards e-commerce activities has also encouraged LCB to embrace this fast growing route to end customers. Following on from the successful launch of such services from their site at Sawston, near Cambridge, LCB have now introduced a similar service to operate from its site at Hillington, Glasgow.
To cope with the demand, LCB has also agreed to take on additional storage space and aims to target the growing number of whisky orientated customers who are looking for such a service from Scotland and with the added benefit of being able to hold stock under bond right up until the point of despatch as opposed to using other fulfilment centres which can only operate on a duty paid basis.
The picking and packing of individual bottles ,along with the provision of suitable packaging, will enable nationwide deliveries to be carried out by their partner delivery company.
Commenting on this development, Sales Director David Hogg, said: ” this major expansion of our already highly successful port centric warehouse within the Port of Tilbury will further strengthen our ability to service the continued growth of customers wishing to operate in the London and South East areas.
“It will provide much needed capacity and allow us to introduce the latest technology into what is already our largest warehouse.”
