Oktoberfest beer prices questioned on TikTok

Users have taken to social media to comment on the price of beer and other products at Oktoberfest as the German event kicks off this year.

For some October is ‘sober’ but for many Oktoberfest is a trip to a German beer hall to enjoy a stein of the country’s finest beer.

But this year, TikTok users have commented on how the cost of living and ‘drinksflation’ is obviously hitting across Europe, including within Germany.

A stein, which is a litre of beer or around 1.75 pints, has now increased in cost to almost £12 at €13.50 according to information provided by TikTok user Kathi Seidl.

She goes on to state that once she provided a tip for her second stein, the price rose to €14.50. In addition, she said a breakfast came to almost 20 Euros and fried Hungarian bread Langos cost €9, according to the Daily Mail.

It comes as videos of Oktoberfest waitresses carrying huge numbers of steins have gone viral across various social media platforms.

Although it is usual to witness the highly-skilled waiting staff at Oktoberfest carrying up to a dozen steins, if not even more, this year TikTok users have been sharing videos of the impressive activity.

One video that has performed particularly well, with almost a million likes, shows a waitress carrying the steins up a set of stairs.
