Zonin1821 participates in Venice’s La Biennale di Architettura

Last week, Italian beverage giant Zonin1821 Group was involved in the Architecture Biennale 2023, hosted at Venice’s Scuola Grande della Misericordia.

Francesco Zonin

30 June marked the inauguration of the Collettiva di Architettura’s Il Manifesto dell’Abitare, a project intended to steer a direction towards living in a sustainable way through architectural designs.

Francesco Zonin, representing the seventh generation of the Zonin family, was invited to contribute to the debate on contemporary living.

Of the occasion, Zonin said: “The place, the estate, must be conceived not only as an architectural project in its own right but as a living, relational space and it must be designed on this basis. Each estate is, first and foremost, a place in which two complementary functions are expressed: it must be welcoming while also promoting the local culture. The estate thereby becomes a space for openness, debate and positive cultural cross-contamination that welcomes visitors and expresses the profound essence of the place itself.”

“This is a crucial factor for us because it promotes our work and our mission of wine education: this is why it is essential to discover, narrate and bring to light the ‘invisible aspects of the visible’,
that is, the culture, traditions and stories that illustrate and embody this extraordinary product of the land. This enables us to increasingly convey the idea that as a product, Wine is good and, drunk in moderation, is healthy but, above all, that it champions the knowledge and traditions that have been handed down for generations and must now be enriched for future generations,” he continued.

Drawing a parallel between Zonin1821’s operations as a group of wineries and architecture, Zonin concluded: “Within the various estates, activities around wine production run alongside those focused on hospitality. The importance accorded to the latter has considerable symbolic meaning for us because it expresses the role of our Group in promoting profound values through the creation and design of specific experiences: these focus on the interplay between the estate and the wine-growing district, local communities and their food and wine culture, the discovery of the surrounding areas’ biodiversity, and the winemaking traditions they express.”

Zonin1821’s participation in the event is also part of the group’s commitment to showing its portfolio as part of the ‘Made in Italy’ brand.
