Taylor’s launch Golden Age tawny Port
Taylor’s have launched a Port called Golden Age, which is a 50-year-old tawny that’s been described as “a wonderful wine”, and “the perfect gift for a special occasion”.
The Port, which was unveiled today, has aged for half a century in old oak casks at the Taylor’s cellars in the Douro region of Portugal, where the temperature is cool and constant, and the humidity high due to the nearby Atlantic ocean.
Commenting on the new addition to the Taylor’s range, Adrian Bridge, managing director of Taylor’s said, “Since we launched the first 50-year-old Taylor’s Single Harvest ports nearly a decade ago, we’ve seen growing interest in exceptional wines that are half a century old.”
He added, “Taylor’s Golden Age, is a wonderful wine, which is the perfect gift for a special occasion, which will deliver incredible pleasure when enjoyed with close friends.”
The Port has been described by Taylor’s as having aromas of “rum and raisin, clove, nutmeg and a hint of cracked black pepper” and flavours ranging from “prunes, quince and apricot” along with “almonds and butterscotch”, followed by “the zest of lemon and orange”, that “deliver a freshness of acidity to balance the richness of the wine”.
