A bartender from Florida had a margarita thrown at her by a customer because, apparently, a bug got in the glass.

The footage was originally posted on TikTok by the user @teamhellathick, but it was subsequently deleted. However, now it has resurfaced on YouTube. The video went viral on TikTok, reaching over 1 million views since it was posted on 20 December.

The caption read: “Karen was mad a bug flew in her drink… on the beach… and now I’m wearing a margarita.”

The video, which is taken from security footage, showed a woman standing in front of the counter while talking to a man in a blue shirt who, the bartender explained in subsequent videos, was her manager.

In the middle of the conversation, the woman was seen throwing the drink at the bartender who, taken by surprise, stepped back. The unidentified woman, then, grabbed two other drinks and walked away, while the manager followed right behind her and other customers watched the incident.

Since the TikTok video was so successful, the bartender posted follow-up videos to explain in more detail what happened.

She explained that the bar she works at is “literally on the beach” and it had been a usual day until that moment. After making the drink for the customer, the woman walked back to the beach with the drink and returned ten minutes later complaining about the bug.

The bartender said: “I know what exactly it was, meaning they come from the dunes. She had the drink on the beach and a bug flew in it. It wasn’t in when I made it for her.”

She then continued: “So she lifts up her drink when she didn’t hear what she wanted to hear, and looks like she is going to throw it at my manager and my manager is like: you wanna do that. She just looks at me and throws it at me.”

The bartender said she was surprised by the woman’s actions, as she was not sure what she did wrong. She also said she was angry, initially, but now she just thinks the incident was quite funny. She also explained that she had no intention of pressing charges.
