Patrol Lieutenant Eric Fields’ similar appearance to the movie star was flagged up by the sheriff’s office, who wrote on Facebook:

“This gentlemen recently ran into Sgt. Mason and informed him he wanted to meet our Deputy that people say looks like “The Rock”. Sgt. Mason passed that along and Lieutenant Fields was happy to swing by the Hartselle Wal-mart to see him. Tyler is one of their many hardworkers and it was great to meet him and some of his coworkers!”

It was on Monday 30 August that Johnson first appeared to have been alerted to lieutenant Eric Fields’ striking resemblance to himself, after he reposted a tweet comparing the two men side-by-side along with the caption:

“Oh s**t! Wow.

“Guy on the left is way cooler.

“Stay safe brother and thank you for your service. One day we’ll drink @Teremana and I need to hear all your ‘Rock stories’ because I KNOW you got ’em #ericfields.”

As for Fields himself, he’s taking all the furore in good humour. “I’ve been called The Rock and Vin Diesel’s love child,” Fields told AL.com. “I go along with it. It’s humorous. It’s flattering. It could be worse people, I guess.”

Teremana is a small batch Tequila crafted “amidst the highest peaks of the Jalisco Highland mountains”.

At the start of the year, we revealed that The Rock had partnered with Molson Coors on the release of an energy drink. You can read more here.
