Every year, customers and the internet writ large get extremely excited about the return of Costco’s beer and wine advent calendars.

Yesterday, we revealed the news that the popular wholesaler’s wine advent calendar is returning for 2021, and we can now reveal that the beer version is back, as well.

Now in its seventh year, the Brewer’s Advent Calendar will comprise a selection of 24 16.9 ounce cans of German beers. According to Costco Connection, each beer is selected from an independent German craft brewer with a range of styles including Bavaria’s Märzen, IPAs pilsners, hefeweizen and more.

“I love that each year there are about six new beers in this pack based on feedback we receive from our members,” said Tony Rizzo, a San Diego regional beer buyer who helped develop the product.

Costco’s beer advent calendar will cost US$59.99, and is expected to start appearing in Costco stories this month.

As for the wine advent calendar, customers can expect 24 half-bottles of wine from around the world inside.

“We didn’t develop this idea, but we Costco-sized it,” Costco wine buyer Kirk Johnson told Costco Connection in an interview. “We made this item bigger and better by using half bottles instead of the standard 187-millimeter bottles you see in other packs. We also gather 24 unique, premium-quality wines to create a treasure hunt for our members.”

“Each year we taste hundreds of wines in order to reach the final assortment,” Johnson continued.

“It’s our goal to make the pack a fun and interactive discovery of wines from around the world.”

Both calendars have proved wildly popular in recent years, and so consumers could be well advised to snap up theirs quickly if interested.
