Bruno Mars’ top rum sells out in two hours

American singer Bruno Mars is enjoying success with his recently relaunched rum brand SelvaRey after his top drop, Owner’s Reserve, sold out in two hours.

Released last weekend, the US$150 Panama-distilled, single estate rum sold out less than two hours after being listed on online retailer Reserve Bar’s website.

Those keen to get hold of a bottle of the rum, which is made from a blend of rums aged between 15 and 25 years, can sign up to the website’s email waiting list

Mars describes the high-end drop as tasting like “a vacation in a glass.” Last November he has relaunched the SelvaRey brand with an updated design and unveiled a new global campaign.

The brand, which means ‘king of the jungle’ in Spanish, was launched by Mars, Seth Gold, Marc Gold and Robert Herzig in 2014 with the aim of changing perceptions around rum.

In addition to Owner’s Reserve, the SelvaRey range includes a US$29.99 white rum and a US$34.99 chocolate-flavoured five-year-old expression.
