New online spirits auctioneer launches

Online wine auctioneer iDealwine and La Maison du Whisky have jointly launched Fine Spirits Auction, a new online spirits auction platform.

It is the first dedicated spirits platform in France and the first sale begins today (20 November), with  bidding open on over 300 lots of rare whisky, rum, Armagnac and Cognac.

Fine Spirits Auction is a combination of iDealwine’s expertise in running online sales and La Maison du Whisky’s position as an established retailer, importer and distributor of fine spirits.

Both iDealwine and La Maison du Whisky had noted an increase in demand for spirits in recent times and with there being no French-based auction house for spirits their respective CEO’s spotted an opportunity when they met a year ago.

Cyrille Jomand, iDealwine’s CEO, commented: “Our position as global leader in online wine auctions coupled with the ever-increasing appetite for aged spirits on iDealwine.com, has meant we have wanted to dive into the world of whisky and fine spirits for quite some time. I am extremely proud to partner with La Maison du Whisky in this new partnership and after many months of hard work, I am delighted to see our first sale go to auction”.

La Maison du Whisky’s CEO, Thierry Bénitah, added: “Founded in 1956, LMDW is proud to be the retailer of choice for fine spirits in France (in our two Paris boutiques, via our 3,000 strong network of independent wine merchants, and online at whisky.fr). Today, demand has never been so high, which is why we are thrilled to combine our expertise with that of iDealwine in establishing the first auctioneer in France 100% dedicated to outstanding spirits.”

The sale starting today (20 November) will run until 11 December. For more click here.
