World Bulk Wine Exhibition goes digital for 2020

The World Bulk Wine Exhibition will switch from taking place in Amsterdam to being a digital event this year due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The organisers of the annual event, which brings together the cream of the bulk wine buying community from all over the world, said that the decision was made to guarantee the safety of both the exhibitors and participants.

“We have sought by all means that this fair takes place in Amsterdam, but the deterioration of the health situation, together with increasingly severe restrictions, make it impossible to host the fair. Guaranteeing safety is the most important factor right now,” the organisers said.

In its place will be a digital event called WBWE Connect, an online service enabling producers to present their wines to a broad audience of international professionals.

The platform will be a showcase for the world’s largest portfolio of bulk wine and will acts as a meeting point between producers and buyers, enabling them to host virtual meetings throughout the event.

WBWE Connect will run from 23 November until 4 December. For more information on the event, click here.

An in-depth look at the bulk wine market will appear in the November issue of the drinks business.
