CVS opens pop-up wine bar in the Finger Lakes
The team behind New York and London wine bars Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels has opened a pop-up bar and B&B in the Finger Lakes region of New York State.
The Supernatural Lake pop-up along Cayuga Lake’s western shore will run until Halloween
The Experimental Group’s first pop-up project, Supernatural Lake will run until 31 October along Cayuga Lake’s western shore. In addition to a wine bar, the pop-up will also boast a restaurant and B&B accommodation for those wanting to make a night of it.
Supernatural Lake’s 300-bin wine offering, created by CVS wine director Sam Stoppelmoor, shines a light on local wines from the Finger Lakes, with special attention paid to Riesling.

The list also includes European drops from Champagne to Burgundy, alongside a selection of craft beers and kombuchas.
The venue will serve lunch and dinner from Wednesday to Sunday highlighting ingredients from local farms, with executive chef Eric W. Boylard at the helm.
Those wanting to carry on the party late into the night can crash out afterwards in one of a handful of cottages next to the lake offering bed and breakfast stays.
Amenities include morning yoga sessions on the dock, kayak rentals and vineyard tours. Supernatural Lake will feature a small music venue hosting live performances from a rotating roster of musicians including local acts from the Finger Lakes.
“We are thrilled to bring the concept to the Finger Lakes. With so much uncertainty around the future of NYC hospitality, we knew we needed to get creative and expand in order to get the majority of our staff back on payroll,” said Caleb Ganzer, a managing partner of Compagnie NYC.
“What we found couldn’t have been more perfect – a commercial kitchen and bar with outdoor dining and an event space that had recently shuttered. We’ve been working around the clock to remodel and refine the property and can’t wait to welcome everyone,” he added.
Founded by Paris-based hospitality group, the Experimental Group, Compagnie de Vins Surnaturels NYC opened on Centre Street in Nolita in 2014. The Experimental Group operates 24 venues in six countries around the world.
