On Friday (5 June), Brewdog’s virtual bar, the Open Arms, will open once again and welcome with a live gig you can enjoy at home.

Brewdog’s Punk O’Clock starts from 6pm, featuring a pub quiz and a live set.

William Borrell, the man behind north London’s Ladies and Gentleman bar, is hosting emergency cocktail masterclasses every Friday during lockdown. Whatever ingredient you’re missing, Borrell showed you how to improvise and whip something up with the stuff in your kitchen.

But now, Borrell is branching out and meeting up with his peers in the mixology game to create cocktails together while adhering to social distancing protocol. The whole thing is shown on Ladies & Gentlen’s Instagram Live feed.

If you’re stuck for cooking inspiration this weekend, Napa’s Duckhorn winery is offering a range of virtual tastings, including a food and wine pairing series called “Wine Country in Your Kitchen,” with chef Natalie Niksa of La Saison, Napa Valley.

The seven-week series takes place every Friday at 5:00pm PST. Learn simple, seasonal recipes with week-by-week pairing suggestions, while cooking alongside one of Napa Valley’s renowned chefs. This week, we’re pairing Pinot Noir with pan-seared pork chops with balsamic glazed onions and roasties.

If you feel like getting your hands on some top-notch spirits and giving to a good cause at the same time, the Worshipful Company of Distillers’ on-line auction goes live this Sunday, 7 June via Whisky.Auction.

Highlights include a bottle of Glenmorangie Claret Wood, a Mortlach 20yo 1997, a Glenrothes 1973, a Flor de Cava Generaciones 30yo and a Courvoisier Erte No 1. A very rare and limited- edition bottle of Havana Club 500 Aniversario is also included and, uniquely, a barrel of 1998- distilled Caroni rum. The proceeds from the auction will go to The Drinks Trust, which is supporting those in the industry who have lost their jobs during the coronavirus crises, or are struggling with their mental health.

Fancy learning something new? Today (5 June) at 11am-1pm AEST, photographer Christopher Pearce has teamed up with gin brand Bombay Sapphire to host a live-streamed workshop on creating photography animation.

Pearce has worked brands including Bacardi-Martini Australia, Bombay Sapphire, Grey Goose, Dewar’s, Monin, and Red Bull, so his workshop should provide useful information for bar owners and social media geeks on how to create beautiful, engaging content.

Chris will provide demonstrations of the features available in Adobe Photoshop and Lightroom.

Fans of homegrown fizz will have been tuning into English Wine Night every Friday since lockdown started.

A beautiful Autumn morning on Coombe Hill in Buckinghamshire, in the South East of England

Each week has had a focus on a different wine region of Great Britain. The final one tonight will focus on wineries in the Thames & Chilterns region, featuring Q&A videos, Instagram Live tastings and interviews with owners, winemakers, retailers and many more experts across the burgeoning industry.

Followers are encouraged to log on to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook and use the hashtag #EnglishWineNight while they do so. Videos from vineyards will also be posted on trade body WineGB’s YouTube Channel over the weekend.

All of this has been done to prepare the UK for English Wine Week on 20-28 May.
