González Byass launches manzanilla in UK

Spanish wine specialist González Byass has added a manzanilla from Sanlúcar de Barrameda to its portfolio, which will be exclusive to the UK.

Domecq Manzanilla is made at Delgado Zuleta in Sanlúcar de Barrameda. The project is a collaboration between González Byass and Pedro Domecq, which the company acquired in 2016.

Since the acquisition, González Byass has been working with Domecq to create a quality manzanilla to add to its Sherry portfolio, which includes popular brand Tio Pepe.

“We are delighted to be able to add this excellent manzanilla to theGonzález Byass portfolio. Our relationship with Domecq has allowed us to offer our customers a one-stop-shop for all their Sherry needs,” said González Byass UK’s managing director, Martin Skelton.

“It has been specially selected from the wines at Domecq by González Byass winemaker, Antonio Flores, for the UK market, where it will be sold exclusively,” Skelton added.

According to Flores, the manzanilla is fresh in style with aromas of “apple, camomile, almond and bread”.

On the palate, “it has a perfect balance of zesty lime, fresh apple, creamy almonds and toasted bread”, Flores said, making it a perfect pairing for salted almonds, cured meats and seafood.

Domecq Manzanilla goes on sale in the UK on 20March with an RRP of £11.
