An immersive Sideways experience is to be staged off-Broadway next month

As reported by Broadway.com, the production will be staged at the Theatre at St. Clement’s in on West 46thStreet from 20 February to 12 April.

Directed by Dan Wackerman, Sideways The Experienceis an immersive food and wine event based on Rex Pickett’s 2004 novel, which sees old friends Miles and Jack take a road trip through California wine country on the eve of Jack’s wedding.

The majority of the vineyards they visit are based in the Satna Ynez Valley in Santa Barbara County. Upscale steakhouse The Hitching Post makes a cameo in the book.

Just three months after Pickett’s novel was released it was turned into an Oscar-winning film by Alexander Payne starring Paul Giamatti as protagonist Miles.

As part of the immersive experience, theatregoers will be served wine and nibbles throughout the play.

According to Broadway.com, the cast of Sideways The Experience will be led by Gil Brady as Jack and Brian Ray Norris as Miles, with Kimberly Doreen Burns as Maya.

The production will feature set design by David Arsenault, costume design by Nicole Wee, lighting design by Jimmy Lawlor and sound design by Quentin Chiappetta.

The first staging ofSidewaystook place at La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego in 2013. In the summer of 2016, David Grindley directed an adaptation of Pickett’s novel at the St James’s Theatre in London starring Daniel Weymen as Miles and Sam Harrison as Jack.

Amusical adaptation of the book, featuring an original score by Anthony Adams, is in development, and is expected to be staged this summer.
