Chapoutier to move to Hatch Mansfield

Leading Rhône producer M. Chapoutier has announced it is changing its UK agent this spring, moving from Mentzendorff to Hatch Mansfield.

The change will come into effect from 1 April 2020 with Chapoutier moving on after a 25 year partnership with Mentzendorff.

Chapoutier’s entire range of wines from the Rhône, provence, Roussillon, Pays d’Oc and Alsace will be moving to Hatch Mansfield, joining the likes of Taittinger, Louis Jadot, Viña Errazuriz, Villa Maria, Gaja and Zuccardi- the latter two being recent additions from last year.

Michel Chapoutier said: “We are looking forward to working with the team at Hatch Mansfield in the UK. Their strategic approach to the different sectors of the market and their in-depth knowledge of those sectors as well as first class knowledge of premium wine and their strong wine values makes them a perfect partner for us as we evolve and grow our own business. We are very excited about our next chapter in the UK.”

Patrick McGrath MW, Hatch Mansfield’s managing director, added: “Maison Chapoutier is an ideal fit to our portfolio of premium family-owned wine companies. Premium France continues to grow from strength to strength. The range and breadth of wines from Chapoutier, from the Rhône and beyond, reinforces our French offering for all customer channels; their extensive range of top-quality wines is second to none.

“We will be looking to continue to build distribution in the independents, on-trade and fine wine merchants, and to keep growing their first-rate image. As with all our portfolio, each of the brands will be exclusive to each of the regions they represent, allowing our sales and marketing teams to give each specialisation and focus.”

It was also announced that another Rhône producer, Jean-Luc Colombo, will be leaving Hatch Mansfield’s portfolio to another agency (yet to be announced) on 31 March this year.
