Manchester United signs chef Tom Kerridge

English Premier League football club Manchester United has announced that chef Tom Kerridge is to take over the food offering on match days at the Old Trafford stadium.

The chef, who operates three pubs in Marlow – two Michelin starred The Hand & Flowers, one star The Coach and The Butcher’s Tap – and Kerridge’s Bar & Grill in London’s Corinthia Hotel, will oversee the food offering at Old Trafford.

Kerridge’s pies will be available to fans at a selection of kiosks on match day. Guests at the newly-refurbished international suite will be able to sample his traditional British dishes pre- and post-matches throughout the 2019/20 season.

The chef has also designed the menu at premium VIP area No.7 at Old Trafford, with his food available from the Manchester United vs Liverpool game on 20 October. Guests will also have the opportunity to spend time with him during the day.

Kerridge is also due to open his first Manchester site next month called The Bull & Bear next month, set within the Stock Exchange Hotel, which is co-owned by Gary Neville, Ryan Giggs and Winston Zahr.

Commenting on his partnership with the football club, he said: “Having been a Manchester United fan all my life, it has been a dream of mine to work with this special club since I became a chef, and I’m thrilled to now be doing so.

“It will take a bit of getting used to not being in my usual seat in the ground on a match day, but I can’t wait to get started and for fans to enjoy my food. I hope this collaboration is just the beginning.”

Manchester United’s chief operating officer, Collette Roche, added: “We are hugely excited to have Tom on board to further enhance the match day experience for our supporters, across both general admission and hospitality areas.

“Tom is a huge Manchester United fan and is passionate about delivering great food for all visitors to Old Trafford, which is really important to us. We know how sought-after Tom is, and believe his award-winning food will be a fantastic addition that has the potential to transform the offering at Old Trafford on an even bigger scale over time.”

Kerridge opened his first London restaurant last year inside the five-star Corinthia Hotel on the site that was Massimo Restaurant & Bar. The chef, who has presented a number of television programmes including Lose Weight For Good, recently announced a new series on BBC2 shining a light on the UK’s struggling pub industry.
