Pol Roger the Champagne of choice at three royal weddings in succession

Pol Roger has confirmed that its Brut Reserve Non Vintage was served at the wedding reception of Princess Eugenie of York to Mr Jack Brooksbank – making it the Champagne of choice at three royal weddings in succession.

The house confirmed on Friday (12 October) that its Pol Roger Brut Réserve NV was one of the wines served at the Royal Wedding, which was held in the grounds of Windsor Castle and attended by the likes of Robbie Williams, Ellie Goulding and Holly Valance.

Writing on its Instagram page, the Champagne house said: “Champagne Pol Roger is delighted that the Pol Roger Brut Reserve non vintage was served at the reception at Windsor Castle following the wedding of Princess Eugenie of York to Mr Jack Brooksbank on Friday 12th October 2018.”

The Champagne is a blend of 30 base wines from across at least three vintages, made from Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Meunier.

Pol Roger non-vintage Champagne was also served at the wedding of Prince William and Kate Middleton, now the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, in 2011, and also the wedding of Harry and Meghan, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex earlier this year.

This means that Pol Roger has been the Champagne of choice at three royal weddings in succession.

Pol Roger gained its Royal Warrant in 1877, and is famous for its association with Sir Winston Churchill, after which its prestige cuvée, Sir Winston Churchill, is named.
