Drunk heavy metal fan swims back to concert
Ejected from his favourite band’s most recent gig for his over-enthusiastic head-banging, a “slightly toasted” Canadian heavy metal fan decided to swim across Lake Ontario in a bid to get back in.
Heavy metal legends Slayer are currently on their final tour before hanging up their Ibanex RGs for good.
As they began playing in Toronto late last month, long time fan Chris LaRoque found himself ejected from the Budweiser Stage where the gig was being held for his over-enthusiastic (and drink-induced) “headbanging and moshing around a little bit,” as he later described it.
Not to be denied hearing the rest of the set and in a moment of drunken logic, LaRoque decided to try and evade security and swim across the short stretch of water at the back of the venue (it is on the banks of Lake Ontario) in order to get back in.
Swimming slowly and wearing his “camouflaged hat” while trying to appear inconspicuous, LaRoque was spotted by Scott Ian, a guitarist with the metal band Anthrax who were supporting Slayer that evening.
Ian snapped a picture of the swimmer and posted it to social media writing: “Fan of the tour. He got kicked out and tried to swim back in.”
Unfortunately for LaRoque he was also spotted by security who fished him out as he got to the other side and, after being checked to make sure he had no ill effects from his dip in the cold waters of the lake, was finally turned away by police.
Although he may have missed the rest of the gig, fellow metal-heads branded his actions “so metal” and he has, reportedly, since been offered tickets to see Slayer later in London this year.
