Wine List Confidential Awards 2018: The winners

We reveal the winners of 2018’s Wine List Confidential Awards following a ceremony on Monday this week at the London Wine Fair.

The Wine List Confidential stand at the London Wine Fair on Monday played host to a ceremony dedicated to celebrating the very best somms and wine focused restaurants in the capital.

As attendees sipped dry Furmint courtesy of Disznókő, the Wine List Confidential team announced the winners of 2018’s awards, following a brief introduction by myself, in which I stressed the importance of promoting the personalities behind London’s best wine lists.

As I said at the event, a good wine offering is vital to the enjoyment of going out, and key to a successful fine dining business – and it’s the people who oversee a restaurant’s wine offering that play an important part in the personality and excellence of an outlet.

And that’s why we introduced the Wine List Confidential Awards. After all, we are already celebrating great places to drink through our website and our printed guide, but we wanted to go further, and personally congratulate the very best in the on-trade; we wanted to reward excellence in a more human way.

With that in mind, please scroll through the pages below to see who won big in this year’s awards, which were kindly supported by the Portuguese Cork Association, along with AXA Millésimes, through their brands, Disznókő (Tokaji), Quinta do Noval (Port) and Pichon Baron (Pauillac).

We would also like to thank cork producer Amorim for supplying the cork frames for the awards certificates.
