Gautier Cognac adds double-golds to trophy cabinet

Cognac producer Gautier has picked up two double-gold awards San Francisco World Spirits Competition (SFWSC).

The drinks maker, headquartered in Aigres around 40km from Cognac itself, was awarded a double gold in both the “Best Cognac” and “Best in Class Brandy” categories for its Gautier Extra 1755, meaning that it is recognised by the US competition’s critics as the best product across all brandies enetered including Cognac, Armagnac and Calvados.

Earlier this year Gautier also picked up accolades for its VS and VSOP expressions, with both receiving a 94/100 score from the Ultimate Spirits Challenge Awards 2018 (USC).

The consistent recognition of the Cognac label in the past year has “helped fuel a real surge in popularity in recent years, and particularly since its packaging relaunch in 2016,” according to Kevin Baker, global travel retail director of Marie Brizard Wine & Spirits.

Gautier unveiled a rebrand back in March 2016 in a bid to treble revenue and reach one million bottle sales in three years.

“It really is a testament to the hard work of our small team in Aigre, who, year in, year out, demonstrate their craft by making cognac of the very highest quality.”
